Instant Style: The Scarf

A scarf is an instant style update to almost
any outfit.

My own collection span about 50-60 different
scarves, from designer items to must haves
from the High street.

I am in love with this purple/black/white one
I just bought for my fall wardrobe.

How the Celebs wear it

Miss Bilson is the queen of scarves. She always
work this accessory very well, from huge drapings
around the neck to lovely loose hanging silk scarves.

Kate Hudson brings life to her white dress by adding a
colorful blue silk scarf. Diane Kruger pumps up a
casual jean look with this white and black scarf
from (can you believe it)H&M.

I love a great scarf, it can make a outfit look like a million dollars. Its such an easy way to accessories an outfit, weather it is a dress or a casual jeans look. For fall, I am into colors like purple, black & white, green and mustard yellow. The high street has a great selection, and I just picked up the scarf Diane Kruger is wearing. Supposedly it sold out in a few days, after she was spotted wearing it, however they still have many other great ones as well as Forever21, Topshop and Asos.

Under The Norwegian Sun

Inspiration for the shot: Japanese girls
running all over the city with umbrellas to
avoid the strong sun. Quite clever I think.

The dress is the (new) vintage dress from
the same seller as I got the Oscar de la Renta
scarf, and I could not be more happy about it.

The dress was a steal of ebay and perfect
for a hot summer evening.

Remember when Carrie wore that white
umbrella in an Episode of SATC? I must say
I loved that look, so when I got this umbrella
for one of my Bachelorette parties last year,
I was very happy. Such a fun look.

Blir mange kjoler i denne varmen,

This is the vintage dress I bought from the same seller as the Oscar de la Renta scarf. And of course I love it! The colors, the fit and the huge skirt, perfect for a I am sorry all of my last posts have been about dresses, but its so hot here, I cant really imagine wearing anything else. Just wanted to have some fun with the umbrella, hope you enjoy it!

I love the Jovovich-Hawk collections. Maybe its because they remind me so much of real vintage pieces. Take the blue dress, is that not something you could find while thrifthing? Of course, that is not for everybody and last night somebody asked me what the next best thing was. My answer is to buy individual pieces that go well with each other. If you buy expensive, be sure that the items are of good quality and dont buy «trend» items. When I look through the sales I always buy the basics(tshirts, underwear, jeans) or one or two expensive items that I know will stand the test of time. For example, all of the pieces I have picked out here, are things you can use now, throughout a part of fall and next summer. My favorite is the polkadot top and the blue dress, which sadly are not on sale. I would wear the dresses for fall with a cardigan and a belted waist. What do you think?

Hot in The City

The dress my mum got me as a gift. My
husband thought it matched the flowers.

My mum said it looked like a dress she had in the 70s, and
perfect for the Riviera. Now, Oslo might not be the same, but
yesterday was close enough in temperature. Its so
hot, its difficult to know what to wear.

We found the dress in a store were I usually
never shop. I was amazed that they would
carry something like it. The best part, the
price, at 10 dollars. Quite the bargain and
a wonderful gift!

I am a sucker for dresses, they always put
me in a good mood. I love the pattern of this
dress, the colors and the tie belt.
The white wedges I wore the other night,
gave me the most horrible blisters, so I had
to wear some shoes that would not do any more damage.
We had the best massages at Dragonfly, a must if you ever
visit Oslo. Afterwards I was spaced out…

Dress: Kappahl
Shoes: Oasis
Handbag: Zara
Sunnies: H&M
Bracelets: Vintage & H&M
Håper dere hygger dere i sommervarmen!
So, this is the dress my mum got me and I could not love it more. I do think it has a 70s element in the print. The temperature here is insane, so only light cotton will do. I am enjoying it (and my last week of vacation) to the fullest. Yesterday we got massages(I will do a separate post on Dragonfly, since its one of my favorites)and went out for some Cajun dinner afterwards. It was a perfect day. Today, I have been to the beach with a friend and soaked up the sun. Hope you are having a great weekend!

Same Dress, Different Shoes

I love my vintage dresses. This one I bought
of ebay for a steal, earlier this spring.

We were meeting some friends at the marina,
Aker Brygge, which is the place to go for late
night drinks in the evening, if you ever visit Oslo.

Dress: Vintage
Shoes: Bianco
Handbag: Chanel
Bracelet: Vintage

One of the reasons to enjoy drinks down here, is the view.
The yellow boat seen in the back, will take you out to all
of the islands, were you can visit museums or just enjoy
the Norwegian nature.

Its always crowded, but we got a table after
20 minutes, so it was not to bad. We enjoyed our drinks at
TGI Fridays(strawberry daiquiri for me) well into the night,
which turned out to be the hottest night here in Oslo, so far
this summer.

And I had to share with you one of my latest ebay finds.
An Oscar de la Renta skarf in purple. Perfect for fall and
a steal from a great ebay seller The Roo Vintage where
I also found the most amazing dress, which I will post
later on.

Last night was such a fun night. We went down to the Marina for drinks & to meet up with old and new friends. It was probably the hottest night so far this summer in Oslo, so we enjoyed it buy having drinks at the waterfront. I had a lovely time and met some very nice people. I got two complimets on my dress that I will cherish for a long time. Ine, this fantastic and lovely girl we got to know, told me she had been admiring my dress the whole evening. Another girl told me I looked like Carrie in Satc! How wonderful was that?
Today I am eating strawberries on the porch and enjoying the sun. Later me and my husband will go and have massages and dinner, so its bound to be a marvelous day.
Thank you all so much for your lovely comments on my 70s post, I am so happy you all liked it!

In Love with the 70s

My favorite blue maxidress from the 70s

Ali Macgraw in Ossie Clark. One of my
favorites and probably one of Sharon Rose
as well, a beloved Ossie Clark collector.

The shirtdress, perfect for this summers safari looks.
Yves Saint Laurent with his models in the 70s. He
created womens tuxedo and is also known for the safari
style.

A dress of this caliber seldom comes a long,
a tresure in my closet.

Ali Macgraw and Love Story are classics of the 70s. I
will watch this film when I am in need of inspiration.

Lady in red. A favorite because of its cape
and color.
Halston and Bianca Jagger ruled the
70s and studio54.

As an avid collector of vintage
dresses, my dream is to own a
Halston dress from the 70s. A YSL
dress is also high upon my list.
This blue dream of a YSL 70s dress is
from Decades, but sold. But they often
post great 70s vintage items.

You can not really mention the 70s without
Jane Birkin and Serge Gainsbourgh. They were
such a classy couple of this area.
I truly feel that the originals can never be replaced.
A vintage item is worth so much more to me than
a sweater from H&M. Why? Its unique and an
original, nothing beats that. That being said, I
enjoyed Gerard Darels fall collection. It is a pleasure for the
eye. I love the widelegs, flower blouses and orange
platform shoes.

I have been a true fan of the 70s as long as I can remember. It all started with my mother, who was a model and a designer at that time. As a results, all mine and her clothes were made by her and originals. The 70s was a fun time in fashion. Colors, patterns and high heeled platform shoes, were just some of the favorites that women all over the world were wearing. The flower and floral trends are as fantastic to me now as it was then. Growing up, all I knew was this way of dressing and I counted my blessings, because I was so lucky to have my mothers closet to use as dress up when the girls came over. Her closet housed amazing cords pants, widelegged jeans, dresses and skirts, and the most amazing 70s wedding dress. It was white maxi dress, with brown and orange flowers and it fitted perfectly with my dads brown velvet suit. With so many dresses, she was always the talk of the party. Looking back as these pictures, if I was in my 20s in the 70s, I would have loved to go dancing at studio54, in my blue dress with my husband.
Hope you enjoyed this!

Blue Sky

Sometimes the most simple things in life are the best.
Like this wonderful blue dress or a late night swim in the sea.

or the clear blue skies at sunset.

For hot days, I find cotton dresses to be best, as they
protect some against the heat. This one I just picked up
at H&M for 10 dollars. Quite the bargain I think.

I cant think of a better view when you go late night
swimming.

Photos: Margrethe, 8 years old
Dress: H&M
Sunnies: Oliver Peoples
Shoes: Havaianas

These are the best flip flops in the world. I love my new
metallic pink ones, which was a gift from my friend Elissa.

One of my favorite things about summer, is a late night swim. Since I dont have any children myself, I often borrow my good friends little one, as an excuse to go swimming. Of course they have long since seen through this scam, but me and Margrethe(8 years old) always have such a great time together. She is a fast learner, so when I suggested she could take my outfit pictures, she was all game. And I think she did a pretty awesome job! The dress is one of the things I got on my last sale shopping spree and it has the most beautiful blue color. The sunset? Free of charge.

Akris Fall Collection 2008

I know we still are enjoying summer, but let me point your attention to Akris Fall collection. Whats not to like about this sleek and sophisticated collection? I love the muted colors, the sleek lines, the acentuated waists and the long scarves. The simplicity and minimalist attitude of designer Albert Kriemler, is perfect for any fall wardrobe. Cashmere and other luxorius fabric will keep you warm, edgy and sophisticated for fall. Cant wait to put my own spin on it. Have a great monday everyone!

Norwegian Summer- Rainy Days

Even though it is raining, I usually always
go for a walk in the summer.

The key is to be both stylish and practical,
so you dont get wet. A raincoat and rain
boots are a must in every wardrobe.

Raincoat: From the 50s
Rainboots: Økonomi sko
Tshirt: Gina Tricot
Shorts: Bought in a store in California

One of the things I love most about the Norwegian summer, is its marvelous beauty. Yeasterday was a heavy rainy day, but today it has changed again. Its not sunny, but it is light skies and warm weather. Maybe perfect for some shopping or a swim in the sea? And I did not really mean to complaine about my summer wardrobe, as I love it dearly. I was just in need of some new inspiration and some small additions to my overfilled closet. Dont you just love that orange raincoat from the 50s? I know I do.

Where Did the Sun Go?

Woke up this morning and its pouring rain. So, I have decided to spend the day indoors looking for inspiration for different summer looks. I am getting a little bored with my summerwardrobe(that always happens ) so yeasterday I hit the sales and got some great bargains. My mum(who ruled the 70sfashion scene) got me a 70s inspired summer dress, in a lovely print. I myself, picked up two long cardigans(black &grey) for 15 dollars. The dress can be worn with the cardigans for fall, so my fall wardrobe is all in the making. I also went thrifting and found some great deals. On top of it all I ordered some stuff on ebay, so I have been busy shopping lately. Not much, but key items that will make a difference in my wardrobe. Came over these photos while looking for some new inspiration to wear some of my summer wardrobe. Love Nickys Jumpsuit(dress?)in paysley pattern, Lauren Conrads fringed shoes and Sophia Bushs blue dress(although I myself would have worn it with a belt). And yes, I am aware that they all wear blue. You see, not only do I love the color, but I most certainly got the blues in this weather.. Happy sunday everyone! PS outfit pictures will be posted later this evening.
